Monsoon Architecture Festival
Monsoon Architecture Festival

Monsoon Architecture Festival is a celebration of architecture, urbanism, art, craft and culture of the Monsoon climatic regions of the world organized by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Cochin Centre. It is the culmination milestone of the Living Monsoon 3 program, under the sub-theme of Resilience Next, of the IIA Cochin Centre.

The twin challenges of climate change and urbanization today poses an unprecedented risk to the monsoon climatic regions. IIA Cochin Centre, since 2015, has been deliberating on these issues through its Living Monsoon program, which has brought the best of minds in the fields of Architecture and Urbanism in these regions to the city of Cochin.

The Design Talks sessions have built up an incredible amount of thoughts, ideas and resource on how the responses to these unprecedented challenges may be shaped. The program is envisaged to be followed by a publication featuring the content and reflections over the period, devised to be a valuable storehouse of knowledge for the reference of present and future generations. The whole exercise is intended to be of an academic bearing to equally benefit the profession, academics & research in the region.

Through Monsoon Architecture Festival 2025 (MAF), IIA Cochin Centre wishes to celebrate this at an international level. The international Monsoon Architecture Awards conducted in 2017 and 2023, will again be conducted in 2025 with the MAF. The festival brings keynote speakers, architects and non-architects, who have done exemplary work in the monsoon regions of the world. The festival is planned to have multiple dimensions apart from design talks such as workshops, exhibitions, arts, crafts and cultural expressions of this unique region.

So, come and join us in Cochin on the 28-29 March 2025 to be part of the international MONSOON ARCHITECTURE FESTIVAL.
