Jury Citation: This project has an exciting program and its core idea as a modular knowledge hub, in itself, is its true success. The building creates a unique multipurpose space for the community – acting as a library, a stage and a space for people to come together. The sensitivity and command of the Architect in handling the material, crafting the building, the clever use of space and creating a poetic language suited to the tropical climate is exemplary. The project shows how the Architect’s role could be more political by recognising and engaging with the needs of the community.
